Research Platform 1¶
Research Platform 1 (RP1) is a Kubernetes-first R&D and integration platform for the US ATLAS Analysis Facility ecosystem. It focuses on modern analysis infrastructure for on-premises and multi-site environments.
RP1 treats infrastructure as software. It uses reproducible GitOps deployments, enforced operational patterns, clear observability, and cluster designs that can be rebuilt or migrated with minimal manual intervention.
The platform aims to support modern analysis environments and evaluate emerging technologies relevant to the HEP computing community. This includes Kubernetes-native analysis services, multi-cluster scheduling, Rucio-aware data access, federated identity, scalable storage models, and scoped access without traditional facility accounts. RP1 is also a testbed for agentic infrastructure management and agentic analysis workflows, with a focus on safe, reliable, and auditable LLM-driven systems.
Active Development
RP1 is under active development. Features and interfaces are expected to change frequently. Access to services may be restricted.
Services¶
JupyterHub¶
Interactive notebook environment with access to shared compute and storage. Run Python or C++ analysis notebooks, connect to distributed compute via Dask, and work with ATLAS datasets.
Grafana¶
Cluster-wide metrics and dashboards. Monitor job resource usage, storage utilization, and platform health.
